Milo Goes to Washington!
Milo met with Senator Leahy, Senator Sanders and Congressman Welch in July to discuss Milo's project which encourages restaurants to adopt
an Offer-First policy
Offering customers a straw rather than putting one in every drink automatically.
Anyone who wants a straw can get one, anyone who doesn't want one, doesn't get one.

In May, Milo met with Mayor Kiss, of Burlington, VT, who presented Milo with a formal Proclamation that officially recognizes BeStrawFree's Offer-First Policy as a Best Practice in the city of Burlington, VT. He is the first Mayor to do so!
______________

From letter to Milo from Senator Sanders
"I believe that small individual steps like this one are a critically important part of keeping our environment healthy for future generations to enjoy... I look forward to meeting you in July in my Washington, DC office. "

From letter to Milo from VT Congressman Welch:
"Congratulations on the success of the Be Straw Free project...Every smart thing helps!"

Please

join us

in enjoying

drinks-

Strawless!

It's free to participate!

Did you know that each day we use 500 million straws- enough disposable straws to fill over 46,400 large school buses per year?*

In February, 2011, Milo (then 9 years-old) founded this project. He and his team at BeStrawFree, work together with members of the Straw Industry, Restaurants and other Businesses,
Schools and Environmental Groups toward reducing the use and waste of disposable plastic straws.

We also decided to make a
pledge not to use throw-away straws whenever possible. For example:
~When we go to a Restaurant we ask for our drinks "strawless."
~We keep Reusable Straws
at home to offer house guests who prefer or need to use a straw.

We hope you'll join us in pledging to do your best to use Reusable or no straws at
all for at least one month.

This small change in each of our lives can result in a big difference for our environment.

You can help us make a difference!

Please join us- it's free!

* BeStrawFree found that 500 million straws are distributed for use every day in the US. Click HERE for details.
